One of the best things about being a blogger is creating content! It’s such a big aspect (arguably the most important), but it can be time consuming and sometimes difficult to keep up with creating content. However, with the right tools, creating content can be a lot easier!
Tool #1: Camera
Unless you are planning on using a professional photographer for every single content shoot, you are going to need your own camera. Whether it’s a bigger more professional camera or your phone, you are going to need something! To be honest, I have this camera that I’ve had since 2018, but I rarely use it. I don’t use a professional photographer, usually I take my own photos or drag M along for content days and he takes them. I will hand the camera to M occasionally, but usually I like the photos from my iPhone better! For blog or product photos, I will use my larger camera and edit on my phone.
Tool #2: Tripods
Like I mentioned before, over half of the content you see on my blog and Instagram, are pictures or Reels I’ve filmed by myself with my trusty tripod! I prefer ones with Bluetooth remotes so that way I can click it for each shot, or start and stop a video. I have two- one that goes up to about three feet, so it needs to be placed on something, and one that is a lot taller! It’s personal preference, so I recommend trying out a couple different ones so you can get your groove figured out. And yes, sometimes it’s weird to take photos in public with a tripod but I just smile and do my own thing!
Tool #3: Ring Light
If you ever had to have a Zoom meeting during 2020, you know the lighting is everything. Ring lights are a perfect way to make your lighting top notch and exceptional for videos and photos. I always set up a ring light when shooting video since it’s a lot harder to edit light on a video versus a photo. This ring light has multiple modes and a phone tripod so you can easily take photos as well.
Tool #4: Apps
Editing apps are a necessary tool for content creators- and Lightroom is by far my favorite. You can buy (or create your own) presets to use and basically edit with one click of a button. I buy my presets on Etsy for pretty cheap usually and love to experiment with different editing.
Some more apps I love for editing:
- Touch Retouch- free app where you can take things out of the background of photos
- InShot- effects, video editing, transitions, etc.
- PicsArt- a fun app to add cute elements to photos
I hope this list of tools are helpful for you when starting out or fine tuning your content creation process. Let me know what your favorite tools are in the comments below!
