Saving money can be such a tricky thing and something so many people fail to do. It’s more important now than ever to set up savings, and have it in case anything goes wrong. I am going to outline some tricks here that will help saving you money everyday!
Always use a coupon code
When I’m shopping online, I never buy anything unless it is already on sale, or I have a coupon code for the item. Some easy ways to source coupon codes:
- Rakuten/ Honey– browser extensions that will suggest coupon codes and try them on your purchase. Rakuten also offers cash back on 100s of stores and the savings can add up quickly! Use this link to sign up for Rakuten and get an automatic $20!
- If you are wanting a product that an influencer is sharing, always always ask if they have a discount code! Chances are they do, or they can ask the brand!
- A lot of stores have discounts if you sign up for their email lists- just keep using new emails if you want to make multiple purchases 😉
The 24- hour rule
When I’m shopping and find something that I’m not 100% sold on, or I can’t find a discount code, I put myself on a 24 hour hold. I don’t purchase the item, or I’ll leave the item in my online cart for 24 hours. If after 24 hours, I’m still thinking about it, then I allow myself to purchase it. If after 24 hours, I’ve talked myself out of it or completely forgotten about it, then clearly I didn’t need it.
Tip- sometimes if you leave an item in your cart, the store will email you a coupon code to come back and get the item!
Saving Money on Home Items
As many of you know, we just bought a house. And finding and furnishing any house can get expensive, and fast. To save money, I followed my 24-hour rule (mostly on decor items), and shopped almost exclusively at TJ Maxx and Marshalls. If you have a Home Goods in your area, check them out too! I found they have the most competitive prices on everything from dishes to decor and a lot of cute things in my house came from there.
