hi, friends!
My fluffy workout buddy!

I don’t know about you, but one of my main focuses for 2021 was getting and staying fit and healthy. I’ve never been a fan of the gym, I used to love hot yoga classes when we were living in NYC, and I hate running, so I had to come up with a new fitness routine in our new normal. In this post I am going to share my new fitness routine and give a review of my favorite app!

Walk 10,000 steps every day

I am a very analytical person (hello previous career in finance), so for me, I need more than just a “move your body” goal, I need data! Thats where my everyday accessory, my Fitbit, comes in! I’ve linked my current model, the Inspire 2, and I have been very impressed with it! I had a Alta HR for years until it wouldn’t turn on anymore.

I aim to get 10,000 steps every day because not only does that keep me moving for most of the day, I read somewhere that you burn an extra few hundred calories a day by reaching your 10,000 step goal and that’s good enough for me. I will usually get most of my steps just getting things done around the house, or when it’s nice out I always try to get outside and walk the neighborhood or the trail behind our house.

My diet

I don’t follow any sort of diet- but I do my best to eat healthy as much as I can. Our usual lunches are smoothies or a late breakfast, and for dinner we have chicken and a lot of vegetables most weeknights. Meal planning helps a ton, and before every month I map out all of our dinners so there is no confusion.

My philosophy for my diet is like this: I will eat what I want, when I want it, but am aware of the choices I make. And if you’re trying to lose weight, instead of following a crazy fad diet, all you need to do is eat healthy, unprocessed food and create a calorie deficit. A calorie deficit is the key to losing weight.

FitOn App

A screenshot of my activity page in the app! I’ve done 370 of their workouts!

My favorite part of my fitness routine is the Fiton App! I was a huge fan of hot yoga and barre classes back in NYC, but with the pandemic that can’t happen anymore. I discovered Fiton because I still needed someone to lead a class for me, but I wasn’t paying any money. Fiton is completely free (they have an upgraded plan available) and have almost every kind of workout you can think of!

My favorite feature of Fiton is that you can customize a 12 week plan based on your goals and they suggest classes for you. You can even customize and filter through all the classes based on what you want to take, and how long you have. It’s truly been a game changer.

For classes I usually try to do at least 5 a week: 2 cardio classes, 2 toning or strength classes, and 1 yoga class. If I want to push myself I do a couple more. Fiton has truly changed my life and I really hope you check it out! Let me know what your favorite class is in the comments below!
