When Mike and I bought our house in 2020, it was our first official Christmas together so we decided to start some new Christmas traditions as well as merge the ones of our family. Now that we’re married, I wanted to share our Christmas traditions with you all!
Christmas Movies
Both Mike and I have specific Christmas movies that we both grew up watching. For Mike, it’s The Nightmare Before Christmas and Home Alone. For me, it’s National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation and Elf. After the house is decorated and cozy, we like to spend our cold winter evenings taking turns watching our favorite movies with a nice Christmas cocktail.
Christmas Eve Eve Dinner
Every Christmas Eve Eve (December 23rd), Mike and I decided it would be fun to start a tradition of making our own homemade pizzas. It’s an easy meal before the rush of Christmas Eve and Christmas start and it’s really fun! I also think that it will be a great and fun tradition to keep once we have kids! I buy the premade dough balls usually from Walmart and since I used to work at a pizza place, I use my dough throwing skills to form it into a pizza and we top with whatever we like! Typically we eat them while we watch a Christmas movie!
Christmas Memory Journal
My favorite Christmas tradition of ours is our Christmas memory journal! Specifically, this one, from Promptly Journals! It is a great journal full of yearly prompts including your favorite memory of that year, the current members of your family and even a place for a yearly Christmas photo! I love it because we’ll be able to track our family as it grows, and share memories that we can pass onto our future children. I simply pack it away in the decor box every year and as I decorate for Christmas, I pull it out and fill it out on Christmas morning after presents!
