With a new year comes new pressure to be better, lose weight, change our lives- but sometimes it is hard to stay motivated. It’s easy to start but not as easy to continue, so I wanted to give you some tips on how to stay motivated in 2021 and crush your goals.

Set the right kind of goals

In order to accomplish what you want in the new year, you first have to know what your goals are! By setting small, actionable goals (like I talk about here), you are much more likely to achieve them faster, therefore motivating you to keep going to achieve the next goal. Think of it like crossing something off of your to-do list- it feels really good doesn’t it? You’ll cross one thing off and then keep going until all of your goals are achieved!

Use an accountability partner

Do you ever notice that when you go to the gym with a friend, it goes by a whole lot faster? By holding yourself accountable to another person, you are much more likely to complete the task you set out on. Find a friend that also wants to workout three days a week, and hold each other accountable with text check ins. Or find a Facebook group for people who want to eat healthier and post in there to find an accountability partner! Have your partner or spouse help you keep up with tracking your healthy habits so you have someone else to lean on!

Change your mindset

When you operate from a fixed mindset, you think that you cannot change and you will always be the same. In a growth mindset however, you know deep down that you can change and evolve into who you want to be. To change your mindset you need to focus on the positives. Try repeating positive affirmations about the things you want to change, Write them down, stick them on the mirror, and repeat them everyday.

Reward yourself

When you accomplish something, give yourself a small reward for crushing it! Buy a new pair of shoes, go get your favorite takeout, or give yourself an evening of self care. Rewarding yourself will keep you working towards the next thing, and not only are you accomplishing a goal but you will be able to treat yourself as well!
