Easy Creamy Gnocchi Recipe with Italian Sausage

Do you ever crave a comforting pasta dish that doesn’t take a whole lot of time to prepare? This creamy and super easy gnocchi recipe is that dish!

This recipe has been such a big hit in the household lately that it only made sense for me to share with you!

The first time I made this, it became apparent after the first bite that it would be added to the rotation. It’s that good!

Many iterations of this recipe were tested and this is the best version by far! The biggest difference I liked was using red wine versus white wine- however that is personal preference. Any wine will do, and make sure you pour yourself a glass while you’re cooking!

This one pot take on a classic Italian meal is so good if you are craving comfort food. There’s nothing better than this easy gnocchi recipe in a rich sauce. Serve with your favorite garlic bread and a side salad.

“Norton Gnocchi”

This creamy tomato sauce with gnocchi and Italian sausage is a comfort food classic that can be made in only one pot!

Ingredients
  

  • 8 oz. Italian Sausage spicy or mild, depending on preference
  • 1/2 small white onion chopped
  • 4 cloves garlic chopped
  • 1/3 cup red wine
  • 14 oz. can diced tomatoes with juices
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1.5 lb. gnocchi
  • 1/2 cup Parmesan
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions
 

  • Take sausage out of the casing, or cut into bite sized pieces.
  • Sauté sausage and onion on medium high heat until sausage is browned and onion is translucent.
  • Add garlic to the pan and cook until fragrant.
  • Add wine and cook for a minute.
  • Stir in tomatoes, heavy cream and the gnocchi.  Once pot starts to simmer, reduce heat to medium, cover and cook for 5 minutes.
  • Uncover the pot, stir and cook for a few more minutes until gnocchi is cooked through and the sauce has thickened a bit.
  • Take off heat and stir in the parmesan and add salt and pepper to taste.
  • Serve immediately.

Notes

Tear some basil and add on top for a little extra color and flavor!
